pillow of the day

so this fabric is an oldie, but still a goodie in my book. kelly wearstler, you can do no wrong. & on the topic of kelly wearstler let's talk about kelly wearstler. she has sort of become one of those people i love to hate and hate to love. every single thing she does is just so flawless & beautiful, cutting edge & perfect. she's got a serious knack for color and pattern and a panache for retro meets modern. i can't say one bad thing....except i will say this:

"please eat something, kelly wearstler. like maybe some cake."

i assure you this will not be the last time i speak of her because with lines for pickard, sferra, lee jofa, the rug company, bergdorf's & schumacher, how could i not speak of her again?!

i've just gotta share this place with you

growing up, i spent a whole lotta saturdays wandering through antique stores and design shops with my mom. so it should come as no surprise that that still remains one of my very favorite past times. some places i go specifically to window shop because, let's face it, money isn't exactly growing on trees for me right now. but there are a few places that i make it my business to visit on a very regular basis because the deals are good and the spaces get me totally inspired to be creative. one such place is toad hall! i visited just this morning after a friend told me about some fun new pillows. i'm working on a little re-vamp later so of course i had to check them out!

now don't be fooled by that frog sprawled out across the front of the building-you are not about to enter some alice in wonderland type situation. toad hall is full of fun, affordable old and new pieces with a little flair and a lot of color. right up my alley!

here are some of the things i swooned over today:

i love tole trays-so girly!

really fun for a corner right? the knobs are pretty great too

this guy right here was half off making it a whopping 200 bux-i might be headed back for this one

i don't have a birthday coming up or anything, but i'm sure you could think of a reason to get these glasses for me :)

what a fun light fixture this would be. over a breakfast table maybe?

ok now you're gunna have to trust me on this little settee. don't be blinded by the grandma candlesticks and the fringe-tastic pillows. this could be cool!

and i can't forget eleanor hastings' fun space at toad hall. you can't miss it. it's tucked in a corner right before you walk upstairs. i know eleanor from my stationery days when she had a fantastic paper line. so it's only fitting that she has fantastic finds in her booth! i'm still laughing over the framed works she has over her bar set-up.

retro & daper bar accessories for the gentelman or mad men fan in your life

someone is for sure gunna need to paint this a lacquered white or geranium color i'm thinkin'

love it!

do you feel bombarded by pictures yet!? sorry! just had to share every little thing! headed to my sweet friend angel's place downtown for some rearranging. pictures to come! oh & one last find from toad hall...he looks like an alfred to me, dontcha think?

my fickled font

hey folks...can't figure out why my typestyle keeps changing! arghh! it bugs me so i will try to fix it!

finally! a before & after post!

had an eventful evening at the cove last night! went out to see my friends' bands, the sultana & velvet elvis praise band. this happened:

...yep! just givin' emily a good slug in the face! anyhooo on to the before & after that i promised you days ago!! mom needed a little overhaul in her master bedroom at the kenwood estate. i think my approach to everything is "less is more"-well, in most cases. the before wasn't bad, mommy. it was just a little much for me.

diagnosis: too much going on! the rusty red on the bed made the walls turn into a fern color, instead of the soothing, calm green my mom was really going for. in turn, more attention was brought to the pine window seat and folding closet doors (circa 1970s) that mom plans on replacing.

solution: see below!

yay! & the best part was everything was recycled from other areas of the house! not bad for a little 2 hour redo & i threw in a free vacuuming job! :)

look how cute my mom looks! i think she was happy! she's planning on renovating the bedroom and bathroom next spring, but this will at least tide her over until then...& you had better believe i'll be there giving my opinion come remodel time.

so does anyone remember this little gem of a movie?

well, if you do then you'll greatly appreciate this pillow & even if you haven't ever seen it i still think you're gunna just love this one. see?

pillow by tempo

told ya. now do yourself a favor and click on the pillow to enlarge it.

i know, right?! & luckily for me, this ethereal wool/velvet pillow currently resides at the shop i work at! the watercolor-esque quality lends to the already sumptuous quality. i'm a sucker for bunnies too. must have something to do with watching bedknobs & broomsticks so much as a kid. thanks, angela lansbury. needless to say, love love love. love to the 3rd if ya will.

happy trails

so I recently came out of the closet as a serious country fan. i know, you wouldn’t have pegged me for this type of girl, would you!? or perhaps you would. afterall, this is only my 2nd post. anyhoooot, it occurred to me while flipping through my idea files (aptly titled: ideas, things I love, things I can’t live without) that maybe after all this time I really am a little bit more country than rock’n’roll. check out the evidence for yourself:

heaven...
kitschy country
gypsy country. i have a serious thing for RVs.

biscuits & gravy would be made everyday in this kitchen..ya know, if i cooked

i just had to...

and there's plenty more where that came from, folks. i'm gunna go round up the cows or kill a snake...or whatever people in the country do.

*sidenote* i wish i could give credit to all these photos, but the truth is i've been compiling images for so long, that i kind of have no way of remembering where they all came from. yikes! i will say this though, i in no way am taking credit for the photos or ideas-just passing a compliment along to the person who deserves it. trust me, when i put up my own photos or my own ideas, i will let it be known! ok..just had to get that formality out there!

ta-da!

well, hello there! after too many hours of trying to make this thing look perfect, I give up! I had such high hopes of kerrent’s grand entrance, a debut if you will, into the blog world. alas, I am just not java/html savvy enough to keep up with all you blogger gurus.

however, it occurred to me that that might not be such a bad thing…follow me for a second. in this blog I’ll aim to share my one true love and passion with all of you: decorating & all things home related! and what is design all about? all together now! RE-decorating, RE-doing, RE-covering, Re-newing your space! so we’ll think of this blog as a little RE-novation of sorts. hopefully, with each new post I’ll add a couple of new gadgets and updates to the overall appearance to make it more aesthetically pleasing for you (& me!). bear with me! I promise it will be worth your while! and with that i'll leave ya a little happy monday pick-me-up:

yep, i know. you don't even have to say anything.

p.s. the name of the blog was inspired by my last name, duh, but also by my good friends brennan and emily because they really gave me the extra push to get this thing rollin'. get it?
kerrent-current!….a word that pretty much sums up design and decorating when you think about it really. motion, movement, up-to-date and well, current! enjoy!
